Singapore reported an additional 690 coronavirus cases as of noon on Wednesday (Apr 29), bringing the total number of cases in Singapore pass the 15,000 mark.
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the “vast majority of the new cases” are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
Six cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents.
The new cases take the national total to 15,641.
With the latest tally, Singapore now has more active coronavirus cases (14,499) than Iran (14,268). Singapore also has the 4th highest no. of active cases in Asia and the 2nd highest no. of cases per million people (2,674).
Singapore also ranks 8th in Asia for testing rate with 20,815 tests per million people.
